About Us
Good Schools Pennsylvania was launched in 2001 to remedy the fact that educational opportunity across the Commonwealth was, and is, significantly unequal. Our conviction is that the knowledge exists to create a public education system in which all children can succeed at high levels, including students who we have historically failed. Our overarching goals are:
- To inform citizens and public officials about the educational needs of Pennsylvania's children, the components of effective education (including accountability), and the consequences of an inadequate education;
- To educate citizens and public officials about the need for adequate and equitable school funding, and the wise expenditure of funds to ensure a quality education for all Pennsylvania children; and
- To organize citizens, giving them a way to inform and educate public officials about public education in Pennsylvania and how it can be improved.
